Vesmír umění (Universe of Art) is a children’s book written by Emília Jarošová and illustrated by Petra Svobodová, developed for the education programme of the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague. The book supports children in engaging with contemporary art through curiosity, observation, and reflection, both within the gallery space and beyond. Lucia Jarosova was responsible for the graphic design and layout of the book Vesmír umění. Building on this publication, she later developed the visual communication concept for a system of participatory learning materials "Zkoumám vesmír umění" used during museum visits, including folders, worksheets, a reward system, and supporting graphic elements. A central challenge was to create tools that are accessible, durable, and adaptable, while remaining playful and visually consistent with the book. The design draws on the existing illustrations and a reduced visual language, leaving space for children’s own input, imagination, and personal engagement. Practical considerations such as material choice, in-house production possibilities, reuse of materials, and long-term durability were integral to the design decisions.
